AnitaB.org Presents - Celebrating Women Who “Rewrote the Code”

On Thursday, March 24th at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET, we hosted an Elevating Conversation on Celebrating Women Who “Rewrote the Code”

This past Women’s History Month, we put a spotlight on women in tech who have made trailblazing contributions to the industry. Pioneers like Rear Admiral Grace Hopper created a legacy of innovation in computer programming that’s still informing the work of technologists today.

Azadeh Moghtaderi, Vice President of Data Science and Analytics at Ancestry, and Katie R. Genadek, Director of the Decennial Census Digitization and Linkage project at the U.S. Census Bureau, joined us to discuss how Grace Hopper’s computing has enabled each of them to preserve history through machine learning with the upcoming release of the 1950 U.S. Census records.

The conversation examined women’s roles over time, shared untold stories of women in STEM, and hopefully inspired the next generation of women history makers.
